About Southern Nevada Dog Training

Hello. I am Michael Whitty, a former nationally recognized police officer and canine trainer. I have been professionally training dogs for over 20 years and I have trained thousands of dogs over the years. My experience includes private training, police dogs and even some training for music videos and commercials. My favorite thing about dog training is working with an abused or neglected animal and training him to the point that he can be adopted. I really enjoy working with dogs, they are our best friends!!!

We NEVER use

The most important thing we want you to know is we do NOT use heavy handed techniques. We do NOT use shock collars (clickers) or any type of intimidation to train your dog. We do NOT use treats or bribes to train your dog either. I hate to see it, but many dog trainers use shock collars (clickers), we simply do not believe in using those methods.

Our training method

Our method is positive reinforcement with firm and authoritative handling as the pack leader. Your dog will respond very well to this type of training, it's what dogs really want. In just a few short weeks your dog will be walking on a leash, sitting, know the stay command, know when to come and know how to behave. Your dog will be the envy of the dog park!

All Breeds

We really train all breeds. I have trained little Tea Cup Chihuahuas and Yorkies. I have worked extensively with all large breed dogs like Pit Bulls, German Shepherds, Great Danes, etc...

Any age - We work with puppies starting at 4 months on up. Yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks. We have trained old dogs that have never had any training, it's never to late.

Typical skills we train;

  • Lay down
  • Sit
  • Come
  • leash training
  • Leave it or drop
  • Stay command

Typical behavioral problems that we can correct:

  • Barking
  • Jumping
  • Lunging or biting at people/ aggression
  • Destructive Chewing
  • House training
  • Pulling on leash
  • Running out the door
  • Separation anxiety
  • Fear or anxiety

A lot of our dog owners just want a better behaved dog and that's what we do. Remember, a well trained dog is a happy dog.
